Classic Toyota Hilux For Sale in Oregon

1971 Toyota Hilux for sale - Crankshaft Culture

Long before the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, or even the “pickup,” there was the Toyota Hilux. Our friend Dave, who lives in Cove, Oregon, is selling his 1971 Hilux and it’s too cool not to share.

The little truck runs and drives, as evidenced by the video above. And that color—it’s just right for a ’71!

The truck is powered by an 8R-C engine that makes 106 hp. Even better? The Hilux only has 80,000 original miles on it. Since buying it, Dave installed a new timing set, newer tires, and a front disc brake conversion using all factory Toyota parts.

Other goodies include a GemTop truck canopy and GemTank auxiliary fuel tank. The truck has the original window sticker, owner’s manual, and even the separate owner’s manual for the AM radio.

This would be a great truck for anyone looking for a little bit of vintage Toyota truck, and could make a great restoration project, old-school shop truck, or maybe the perfect platform for a project. Dave is currently asking $5,575 for the vehicle, and you can contact him via his post in the Toyotaholics Buy/Sell/Trade group on Facebook.

  1. Ha! I had one of these back in olden times. It was even the same color. Some of the features I remeber was they were quick to rust and when they did the fender mounted front directionals would part company with the fenders and hang by their wiring, swaying in the breeze. Also the timing chains were made of cardboard and liked to be replaced frequently. I got pretty good at this and could do it inn an afternoon, unless it was the middle of January. Then it took all day. Cool truck though. I still have a 521 Datsun that I tinker on occasionally. Nostalgia. 🙂
