That’s Different: 1961 Nash Metropolitan 4×4

Nash Metropolitan 4x4

Well, this is something you don’t see everyday: A 1961 Nash Metropolitan atop a Suzuki Samurai 4×4 chassis. You know, it kinda works.

OK, some details. According to the Boise craiglist ad, this classic Nash rides on a 1986 Suzuki Samurai chassis and has the carbureted 1.3-liter Sammi engine, five-speed manual transmission, and the Zuk’s 4×4 transfer case. Really, the only part of the Nash is the body. The owner discloses, however, that the little rig is registered as a Nash Metropolitan with Oregon antique plates.

He says it’ll cruise easily at 65 MPH and will do 80+. If I saw this thing rocket past me at 80 MPH, I think I’d probably soil myself.

The owner is looking to fetch $8,995 American dollars for this mashup, and it certainly is one of a kind. By the way, if you listen closely, you can hear Metropolitan and Samurai purists dying a little. I kind of love it.

Good luck to the seller, and Godspeed to the buyer.
