Our Delica Gets a Long-Range Fuel Tank

Our 1994 Mitsubishi Delica Space Gear, aka the TBD Tractor, just got a new long-range fuel tank. This Long Range Automotive tank brought in by Long Range America ups our fuel capacity and extends our Delica’s range significantly. In fact, here’s a video all about it.

This video, a partnership with Pickup Truck + SUV Talk, showcases the LRA tank install along with some other goodies. This includes our front and rear Coastal Offroad Bumpers which were powder coated by Precision Powder Coating, a variety of accessories, as well as the POR 15 treatment to the chassis to prevent rust.

The new Australian-made tank increases our capacity from 75 liters (about 20 gallons) to 125 liters (33 gallons). This will up our range significantly. This means no need to carry spare fuel on the back swing-away carrier and less worry about running out of fuel in the backcountry.

We once again turned to the crew at Wanderlust Overland in Oregon City, OR to install the LRA tank, and they did a fantastic job. Being that this is a replacement tank, they simply removed the factory tank and installed the LRA unit. There’s no need for a transfer pump or additional wiring, and the tank utilizes the van’s factory filler neck, too. But enough typing, check out the video.
