The Tokyo Auto Salon is one of the premier vehicle customizations shows in the world. It also has a reputation for featuring some wild custom builds, many of which with a distinctly Japanese flair. The event happens every year, and damn it, someday I’ll get there. I’ve followed TAS for as long as I can remember. I mean, this event is right up Crankshaft Culture’s alley: Crazy-customized JDM 4WDs and vans? My heart be still.
Until I’m able to attend myself, I watch other outlets’ coverage of this Japanese automotive event.
This year, our friend, Tim Esterdahl of Pickup Truck + SUV Talk, had ex-pat, Micah Wright, cover the show for his outlet. And, as expected, the vehicles don’t disappoint. From Delica and Hijet, to Jimny and even RAV4—and a whole host of other awesomenesss in between—the rigs of the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon only make me want to visit even more. いつか!
Part 1 is above, part 2 is below. Enjoy!
