Globe Trekker’s Camper Platform Unlocks the Ford E-Series’ Off-Road, Overland Potential

Overland expedition engineering company, Globe Trekker, known for its four-season adventure campers, has debuted its new Ford E-Series Camper for E350 and E450 models. For use with the Ford E-Series Cutaway chassis, these lightweight overland campers employ Globe Trekker’s revolutionary E-Flex Zero Torsion subframe. This subframe, combined with other premium camper features, unlocks the E-Series’ off-road capability and takes it to new levels of expedition readiness.

Unlocking The E-Series’ Off-Road Potential

The Ford E-Series chassis has loads of untapped potential. Many traditional E-Series campers have bodies bolted directly to the frame. This doesn’t allow much frame twist, which aids in off-road performance. In fact, if flexed too much, conventional E-Series campers can be heavily damaged. This is due to the way the camper is connected to the vehicle. However, Globe Trekker devised a game-changing subframe to unlock the E-Series’ off-road and overlanding potential: The E-Flex Zero Torsion Subframe.

The E-Flex Zero Torsion Subframe: A Gamechanger

The new E-Flex Zero Torsion Subframe unlocks the E-Series’ potential thanks to smart engineering and a patented design. This innovative subframe works for the 138″ and 158″ wheelbase models and offers up to 22-degrees of overall frame torsional twist for maximum off-road articulation, resulting in superior traction, keeping the wheels on the ground without damaging the camper. This helps to make the E-Series one of the most capable off-road chassis available.

While this chassis’ flex makes it fantastic as an off-roader, that’s only part of what makes the E-Flex Zero Torsion Subframe a winner. Made in the USA, this subframe also offers custom storage box provisions to carry plenty of gear for overland adventures. The center support offers impressive strength, and Globe Trekker’s exclusive Expedition Crossmembers are present here. These crossmembers can be moved and adjusted according to the camper’s needs. This still allows for flex—even with a camper box on the back.

Bill Sands, Globe Trekker’s President, said, “The patent-pending E-Series solution is revolutionary for the overlanding community as it combines off-road performance with the comfort of traditional B, B+, and C motorhomes. It also showcases what is possible with Globe Trekker’s Zero Torsion™ products, Composite Campers, and engineered solutions.”

Globe Trekker’s E-Series Campers

Globe Trekker’s E-Series Campers are lightweight overland adventure platforms that work seamlessly with the Ford E-Series Cutaway chassis. The camper is a four-season solution ready to go anywhere at any time of the year.

The camper portion is made using the company’s proprietary panel system for best-in-class strength, durability, and thermal protection. Additionally, the camper is corrosion-resistant, offers condensation protection, and is fire-retardant. The 1.5″ composite panels are structural, lightweight, and exceptionally strong. In fact, they are 50% lighter and have 176% greater R-value than common camper materials, like PET (polyethylene terephthalate), which is commonly used on other companies’ campers.

Customizable Camper Configuration

The Globe Trekker E-Series Camper offers a cabover sleeping area for a full- or queen-sized bed and can sleep up to four people. The full open pass-through from the cab to the camper provides enough space to fully tilt the front seats backward or to swivel them for extra seating options. Optional built-in L-track mounting locations allow a versatile, secure way to tie down cargo and gear.

These vans are customizable to buyers’ wants and needs. Things like integrated aluminum storage boxes (up to 77″ long for skis), wheel wells for tires up to 38″ tires, and gas filler necks are configurable. There is no recess in the camper floor, providing a clean, clear space for interior design and buildout.

The campers come standard in white, but custom colors are available. Door, window, and hatch installations are offered, too (doors, windows, and hatches sold separately).

The Ford E-Series Cutaway features the Ford “Godzilla” 7.3-liter gasoline engine making 325 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft of torque mated to the TorqShift six-speed automatic for superior performance. Third-party 4×4 conversions, such as the U-Joint Offroad system, allow up to 38″ tires for maximum off-road traction, no matter the situation.

Globe Trekker offers solutions for both B2B and B2C customers. B2B customers provide the vehicle. For B2C customers, Globe Trekker offers assembled units through its network of builders with or without the supplied chassis. Full turnkey solutions are also available.
