We’re big fans of BFGoodrich tires. In fact, we have them on all four of our vehicles. For 2026, the iconic brand is celebrating 50 years of radial all-terrain tires and is debuting more sizes of its new KO3 all-terrains.

BFG’s all-terrain tires led the popularity of this type of tire. Now, all-terrains are not only common, but you can even get them as OE equipment on a variety of vehicles, not just trucks and SUVs.
“Celebrating 50 years of the Radial All-Terrain T/A tire is a milestone that speaks to BFGoodrich’s legacy of extreme performance,” said Jamie Hershey, Senior Director of Recreational Brands for BFGoodrich Tires. “This tire has defined off-road capability for generations, and as we honor that heritage, we’re equally excited about the latest chapter, with the All-Terrain T/A KO3 tire. The KO3 represents our endless pursuit of toughness, reliability, and adventure, continuing the tradition that started five decades ago.”
The BFGoodrich All-Terrain Timeline

It was 1976 when the 3-ply Tri-Guard Radial All-Terrain T/A launched. Since then, there have been four other all-terrain iterations.
1976: 3-ply Tri-Guard Radial All-Terrain T/A tire launches
1986: Second-generation Radial All-Terrain T/A launches
2000: All-Terrain T/A KO tire launches
2014: All-Terrain T/A KO2 tire launches
2024: All-Terrain T/A KO3 tire launches
The Latest All-Terrain Tire: The KO3

The latest KO3s take the company’s all-terrains to the next level. According to BFG, the KO3 tire has 15% better wear performance, 20% better gravel road durability, and improved snow traction compared with the KO2 tire, while maintaining its predecessor’s sidewall toughness and soft-soil traction. The KO3 tire carries a 50,000-mile warranty and a 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
We recently installed a set of 215/75R15 KO3s (link to buy on Amazon) on our 2022 Subaru Crosstrek. And we just got done with the 2026 Thunderbird Rally, where we got to test them in just about every condition imaginable. We found them to be excellent overall and improved upon the KO2 in terms of noise and wet traction. We still run the KO2 on our 1994 Mitsubishi Delica Space Gear (30×9.50R15) and 1998 Suzuki Jimny Wide (235/75R15).
